HP Photosmart 7525 Photo Blk ink versus Blk 564XL

I'm guessing I'm totally ignorant bc for the life of me I cannot figure out if I just want to print my daughter's term paper with no graphics or anything just text and all inks are full but the PHOTO BLACK is out...why won't it still print using the Black 564XL which is FULL!?!  I have it on normal, black and white, tried gray scale...I don't know what else to do.  What's the point of using both black inks and using the majority of the photo and always leaving more of the XL, I prefer it to use the XL bc I rarely if ever print photos. 

I'm not computer/printer savvy so ANY help would be wonderful.

I have all drivers updated on computer and printer.  I have aligned and cleaned all cartridges in printer. 

My question is, can you print just from the colors and the black xl without the photo black.  IF not that is terrible and a rip off!

Hi,

The designers say using photo black (or on some printers have black and grey/gray cartridges) will give better results when printing photos. Please don't ask me why, I don't design printers.

Now back to your printer, as you know: mixing 3 prime colors together at a right amount will give us at least over 16 million colors from white to black. Printers do the same when printing grayscale and adding photo black will give deeper black.

To protect itself from damages, your printer needs all ink cartridges. If you wish to print B&W ONLY, please try

(a) Double click printer icon on desktop,
(b) Click Set Preferences,
(c) Click Advanced,
(d) Select "Black Ink only" for Print in Grayscale
(e) Click Ok/Apply ...

Note: Printer still needs all color inks and it will consume a very small amount of inks during warmng up process.
