Hp Photosmart C310 does not print black. Replaced cartridge and ran clean print head several times. Still nothing. Print head alignment fails. Printer does not turn off with on/off button. Recycled/rebooted by pulling plug ,count to ten and plug in again.

Nothing changes except on/off button works again.

The ink cartridge may be defective, or the printhead could have gone out.  First thing to try is replacing the ink cartridge, but there is no guarantee that will fix the problem.

Swapped black ink cartridge, still no black print.

How do I access the black print head to clean or check out?

Removing and soaking the print head worked like a charm. Thanks for the directions for the removal and reinstallation.

Glad you got it fixed.  :generic:  Just as a note to other users, submerging or immersing the printhead in any liquid, will void the warranty of the printhead, which is separate from the warranty of the printer.

My C310 refuses to recognise that a photo black cartridge is installed although the cartridge has been installed for a few days and used sucessfully.  It is not short of ink.   Reinstalling the cartridge makes no difference.

Nothing suggested here worked for me, including the soak. Went from working just fine to ZERO BLACK.  All of a sudden.  Not the slightest hint of black. How is that possible??
