HP Print and Scan Doctor is stuck on "Driver Check"

HP Recommended
HP Envy 4500 Series
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Envy 4500 gets stuck in the scanning process.  The printer works fine.

I do not receive any error messages.  I eventually hit "cancel" and stop the process with the task manager.

When I run the HP Print and Scan Doctor, the process gets stuck at the "Driver Check" step.  I've let it run for hours before stopping the process.

The printer is connected with a USB cable.

The printer is plugged in directly to the wall.

My computer was built by my local computer shop and I've never had issues with it before with printing/scanning.

This printer is about a year old and the problem started about 6 months ago.  It was sporadic at first but has become constant recently.

Hi,

My suggestion: re-install its software and driver using the following package:

     http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL47762/mp-115701-6/EN4500_198.exe

Regards.

I'm not surprised there was no response to "just reload software from this link"

There's no instructions in the link for overwriting software. PFFT
