HP Officejet Pro 8500
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I just installed a HP Officejet Pro 8500. When I request print. The printer goes into "Aligning Printer" Mode, spits out the paper blank and then continues to align printer for a number of times and then I get an error message that says "Alignment failed. Refer to Device Documentation for details. Where do I find this documentation?  Why is this happening?

Thanks,

Carson

Thanks for taking an interest in the HP Support Forums! After reading your post I see that you are getting alignment failed error message on HP Officejet 8500 printer. I would like to help you out with this issue today.

  • Reset the printer.
  • Evaluate the alignment page.
  • Clean the printheads, and then print a Print Quality Diagnostics page.
  • Calibrate linefeed, and then print a Print Quality Diagnostics page.
  • Retry the alignment.

Click here and follow the document to perform above mentioned troubleshooting steps.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers.
