HP Solution Center and HP C309a AIO no longer able to scan document to PDF after update?

I have an HP Pavilion dv9000 (EZ458UA#ABA) running XP Professional SP3, and an HP Photosmart C309a All-in-One (wireless connection) through my home network. The HP Solution Center was originally downloaded which included Searchable PDF scanning. 

 

I updated the HP Solution Center to version 14 and since then do not have the scan to PDF function.  I have updated the OCR (Readiris Pro 14) software on this computer also, but the HP Solution Center still does not recognize it and include it in the scan document list. The obvious question: Is XP being 'phased out' so that the HP Solution Center scan functions are not being supported? If so, what is my work-around?

 

I do have the same HP Solution Center program/version on a new laptop (running Windows 7 and is usb connected to the same C309a AIO) and yes it does have the searchable PDF scanning function and works as expected.

I have tried all of the solutions suggested by the troubleshooters and they don't address this concern. Any ideas?
