HP photosmart 5524
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello. i bought this printer a few years ago. i  have not used it for a while but needed to start using it again. i bought new cartriges 364XP. They are not HP, but i was told they should work fine.

The problem is now, that the printer only prints black. I cleaned the printer heads, and there is colour coming out of the cartriges when i press them, but the printer just will not print any colour. it doesnt matter if i print a test page from the printer itself or from the computer.

I spent 60 euro on this colour ink, so im quite upset right now.

Any ideas??

Best Regards

Kai

Hi! @kaimagnusgroth, Thanks for stopping by HP forums!

I understand you have issues printing color from your printer.

Don't worry I'd like to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

Are you able to make a color copy from your printer?

HP recommends using original ink cartridges try replacing the cartridge and check if the issue persists.

Try few steps recommended below.

In the software program, you are trying to print from, click File, and then click Print. The Print dialog box opens.
Select your product, and then click Properties. The printer Properties dialog box opens.
Click the Paper/Quality tab.
From the Paper Size drop-down list, select the option that matches your paper size. For example, if you have legal paper loaded in your product, select Legal 8.5x14in.
From the Media drop-down list, select the paper type that matches the paper loaded in the product.
Click the Advanced button. The Advanced Options dialog box opens.
Under Document Options, make sure that Print in Grayscale is set to Off unless you want to print in Grayscale intentionally.
Click OK, and then click OK again to apply the settings.
Click OK or Print from the Print dialog box to start the print job.

Refer this article to further troubleshoot print quality issues.

Have a great day ahead!

Take Care! 🙂
