HP710C - Align print cartridges error - Function discovery print provider dll has stopped working

2. Windows 7 64-bit

 

About 8 months ago I discovered the Windows 7 64bit driver patch published on this forum which I duly installed so I could continue using my old faithful HP710C printer. Since then, my printer has worked absolutely fine working on Windows 7. Then yesterday after replacing the colour ink cartridge I attempted to use the 'align print cartridges' function within the printer properties. This no longer works and gives a message saying 'Function discovery print provider dll has stopped working'. It offers to go online for a solution but doesn't find any. Further details from the dialogue box are:

The printer still prints but I would like to fix this problem so I can use the align print cartridges again.

 

Can anyone help me please?

Hi, I have excactly the same error - alignt catridges function for HP710C on W7-64 leads to "Explorer stopped working" and a dll-error log entry.

Is there anyone who knows a solution?
