Linux

I have installed Linux Mint 18 yesterday. I installed via Synaptic HPLIP en HPLIP-gui.
HPLIP is version 3.16.3
In Linux Mint 17 it was in 2 seconds i have my printer, but now it won't work.
I tried to installed the latest version but also this won't work. :(
I get this:

HPLIP cannot detect printers in your network.
This may be due to existing firewall settings blocking the required ports. When you are in a trusted network environment, you may open the ports for network services like mdns and slp in the firewall. For detailed steps follow the link. http://hplipopensource.com/node/375

but my firewall is off.

I see on the website of HPLIP that Linux Mint is NOT supported.
I read somewhere else:
Linux Mint V18 is not listed as supported; there are listings for Linux Mint 17 - 17.3 in the Wizard.

Its crazy!
In CUPS i don't get my printer.I don't want to go back to Mint 17. :(

Is there someone who have a solution?

Hi

Linux Mint 18 was just released 3 days ago:

http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=3080

HPLIP currenty support up to Linux Mint 17.3, that is clearly listed within the HPLIP page of your printer:

http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/models/photosmart/photosmart_wireless_b109n-z.html

I assume it will be supported in the future, but updating the software for a new operating system  takes some times, you will need to follow the site for future version updates...

That's the risk with keeping fully up to date, when an operating system being released it takes some tome to update the drivers for a such, and there are no gurantees that any older model will be provided with such support, surely not in a matter of single days....

Shlomi

I am sorry, but Linux Mint 18 is not 3 days ago released, but must earlyer, 30 June 2016.

You saw the release Linux Mint XFCE, this is 3 days old.

I work with Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon, my mistake that i told not earlyer in mine first post.

I've been messing around today and i stilled managed it. With problems, but my printer works.

I had to installed from http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/install/index.html but i sayd i had 17.3 version.

Further I did  the printer off and on, then install my printer via menu and print management .

I must also installed 1 file (oké, i don't know anymore what it was, sorry). After that HPLIP Toolbox saw my printer. Strange, but i am happy.
