envy 4500 can scan letter size or A4 size (8.5x11.7in (216x297mm), legal size doesn't fit on the glass.

Hi,

 

The following lines are from its specs:

 

Scan type Flatbed
Scan resolution Hardware: Up to 1200 x 2400 ppi; Optical: Up to 1200 ppi
Scan technology CIS
Scan file format PDF, BMP, PNG, TIF, JPG
Scan input modes Front-panel scan, Front-panel copy, HP Scan software
Scan size maximum Flatbed: 8.5 x 11.7 in (216 x 297 mm)
Twain version Version 1.9

Legal size paper: " legal size paper: Paper measuring 8.5 inches wide and 14 inches long, used almost exclusively in the UK, US, and Commonwealth countries."

 

From two sizes above, the answer is: no, you can't.

To scan legal size, you need an ADF scanner (for example Officejet 4630) or one with a larger glass (for example, Officejet Pro 8600).

Thank you all for your response. I think I misread the fine print somewhere.

I found the source of the confusion. The Fry's Electronics ad says that I can scan legal size documents on the 4500. Clearly they are mistaken.
