How do I 'unpause' my HP ENVY 5532 printer?
05-23-2017 04:54 AM

I was printing a form and realised the colour wasn't right so I paused the print - should have cancelled - and loaded new colour inks. Went through the mandatory re-callibration process. A message told me the printer was paused and I cannot see how to get rid of this status.
In the box which gives print jobs pending there is a 'restore' option but this is not active. Cancelled the print queue, turned off and on again but this took me into the re-callibrate loop again and the printer was (is) still in 'paused' status.
If you can tell me how to turn it off I'd be grateful!

Hi Garry, Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.
I understand that you have an HP ENVY 5532 e-All-in-One Printer. I read that while printing, you paused the printer and installed a new color cartridge and went through the calibration process. There's a message stating that the printer was paused and this message does not go away.
The restore option in the print queue is not active. You canceled the print queue and restarted the printer and the printer started to calibrate again and is in paused state. I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job. Not worry, I'll do my best to help you.
To provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
- Do you see the message on the printer screen or the computer screen that the printer was paused?
- Was the printer able to complete the alignment process for the new color ink cartridge? If not then please refer to "To align the cartridges from the printer display" from page# 71 of the user guide.
Meanwhile, I did some research and recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:
- Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON.
- Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.
- Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
- The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector. Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.
Please download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor software. This is a free tool for Windows to help resolve issues with the printer drivers and fixes the print queue.
I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Feel free to keep me posted. Cheers! 🙂
