I can't fax with typical phone cord Jetprint 8630

I have an 8630 and the instructions say I need that special phone cord which I have lost of course.   In the past, I have been able to send a fax anyway.   Now, for some reason when I test my fax on phone line 1 it fails the appropriate cord section. when I test on phone line 2 it PASSES the cord section but doesn't get a dial tone because I only have 1 phone line that works.

 I am using WIndows 10, and a phone cord that I bought at Best Buy. Like I said it has worked in the past.  

I uninstalled and reinstalled and retested etc.  Please help.  I need to fax things for work!

Hi,

Uninstall and reinstall won't help and it may messing up your setup. All you need is a RIGHT cord (yes, you need a RIGHT cord). You can go to a phone shop and asking for a right cord using the followng information

OK - so I went to Best Buy and the ATT store.  ATT told me they only do wireless which I had expected.   At Best Buy, I looked at all the line cords.  One I could tell had 4 things.  The other options were hidden in the packaging so I asked someone who worked there.   I explained that I needed a RIGHT cord and was promptly told that I had THE RIGHT cord- because all phone cords are the same. I explained that the connectors might be but the connection wasn't.   

S0- where do I find this cord? I need a really long one the way the room is set up.

Good morning,

Sorry I don't live in the US but in my country I can go to Jaycar (I don't know what is a similar shop in the US) which sells telecommunication products and I can ask them to make one for me. And please note the cords for your HP fax machine ONLY have 2 wires and normal phone cords have 4 wires:
