On looking at the latest HP Support web site document for 10.7 support it appears that you may be out of luck with regard to scan support for the 3030 printer. It is included in the category "Print-only support from ASU and NO scan support" so I guess they don't intend to provide 10.7 scan support for that model. (my 3390 printer is listed under "Print-only support from ASU now and DELAYED scan support" so apparently they are working on providing scan support).

I forgot to include the link to the HP Support website regarding supported/unsupported printers for 10.7; it is:

With luck, the 3030 will work with the 3052 software, or a variant. It has in the past.
ACTUALLY, I can confirm that the 3030 does work the same way that the 3052 does, as described in this chain. You need to use the version of HP Scan (not the other software) from the 3052 software, but it works with the 3030. You need to install the 3030 software that was intended for OS 10.5. The key is to reset the printing system before you start.

Where Ironbadger's 2 suggestions did not work out, Morandi's (lengthy) recipe did the trick for me - thanks!
(Now I can not only print but also scan with my HP 3055 All-in-One on OSX 10.7 Lion.)

Thanks.. Got most of it to work...
Under USB. I can scan, but when i try to use email it says it can't find the scanner?
When trying to setup network printer. It does not find the printer. My router is connected to a switch. I have tried to find the printer IP but have no idea where to look. Apple says there is no utility to find all the ip's on a mac

Wow! Morandi's instructions worked perfectly on my new Mac Book Pro running Lion. I followed the ethernet instructions only, not the USB and it worked great. for those a little nervous - I'm a total mac newbie and it took me only a few minutes. as a tip, you need to set up a password on your admin account to run a sudo command (thank you google!).

hi tried this and it didnt work, i think i might have went wrong in the root terminal, any suggestions or maybe directions on opening root terminal the correct way and once open do i remove the commands in it.

I'm sorry, forgive my ignorance, but I don't know what root mode is (or how to get there), what a terminal window is (or how to create one), or what a sudo command is (or how to execute one). I followed your direction as best I could without knowing these things, and HP Director can't see my 3390 and it doesn't show up in Preview either. I sure would like to be able to upgrade my main machine to Lion without buying a new AIO. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Many thanks for your detailed instructions! It really works and solves the problem of installation of our printers and scanners HP 3052 in our office. Special thanks for the command in Terminal. THANK YOU!

FABULOUS! I spent all day trolling the web trying to find a solution. Using the older plist from my laptop 10.6 worked. I copied it into the preferences and am back to 'normal'. The scanner froze if I tried to create a file, but if I selected email and ticked 'close after', I was able to do several scans in a row. Emailing myself (instead of creating a pdf) is not a big problem.
Thank you so much! and bravo to HP for letting you experiment with solutions even though they have to be done manually.
