Hi @grace-m,

Thanks for reaching out. 🙂 A very good day to you. 🙂 I reviewed the post about the DC getting stuck when you inserted it and it not ejecting. I will be glad to assist you with this. 🙂

Fabulous description and superb diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. 🙂 You are a valued HP customer and I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you. 🙂

For better clarity and to assist you better, I would require more information regarding this.

  • Did you try to eject it with a paper clip?

For a start please try these steps.

  • Open the computer window and right-click on the DVD drive and left click on eject.
  • Then check if the DVD drive ejects for you to remove the CD.
  • If it does not please power down the computer.

Then perform a hard reset on the computer by following this link: http://support.hp.com/za-en/document/c01463028

  • Then make sure that the computer is powered down. Please use a tiny paper clip or pin and locate the eject hole on the DVD drive’s bezel.
  • It is a tiny hole either on the right or left of the bezel  (little plastic strip that covers the tray on the outside)
  • Once you locate the hole, use a paper clip that fits the hole and insert the clip inside the hole and push a little.
  • If done correctly, the DVD Drive should eject and the CD should pop out.
  • Then power on the computer and close the tray and check if the tray works.
  • We need to isolate the issue if the DVD drive has a mechanical hardware issue and does not eject the CDs correctly.
  • If it does DVD drive does not work or eject, then it is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Hope this helps.  Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂  Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you.  🙂

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.
