M276nw
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have a new Windows 7 machine.  The M276 installs properly.  During the Fax setup, I can hear the modem check for dialtone and all tests PASS.  I also have the M276 connected to a Server 2008 machine and a Windows XP machine, no issues.

Once installed I try to fax on the Windows 7 machine and get a "Unable to communicate with the device" error

Hi @richardbursch,

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that you are unable to fax from your Windows 7 computer.

This issue could occur if the fax software is not configured properly.

Let's go through a few steps to troubleshoot this issue.

And here's the step by step guide for you in the link to Send a fax from the software: Send a Fax from the Software

Let me know how this works.

I was able to continue my reasearch and another similiar incident was fixed by down grading IE from v11 to v10.  I uninstalled the IE v11 upgrade and everything is now working properly.

I do admit I am surprised that HP has not fixed this bug as it compromises security not running the most recent version of IE.

Hi @richardbursch,

I understand that the issue resolved after downgrading the browser from IE 11 to IE10. IE 11 may not be compatible with Windows 7. I appreciate your time and patience for the research.

Feel free to ask your queries as this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.

It was a pleasure assisting you. You have a good day ahead.
