Alex, I realize your a "printer engineer" and probably not an "electrical engineer"....but could you please explain how/why

by pluggind directly into a wall plug vs through a power strip would cause the noise from the printer to go away???

I suspect the noise is from the power supply or a fan.   I see one person suggest the cause is the WiFi connection.... they suggect to turn off the WiFi,  unfortunately that is how I have my PC communicating to the printer.

Hey, doesn't answer your question, but my MFP 281fdw made that same noise.  I returned mine to Office Depot and exchanged it for another.  Same setup, but new one doesn't make the noise.
