Main motor choice to solve a Laserjet 4 “57 Service” error

I’ve completed all the tests to localize the problem (fuser, toner cartridge, gear train, voltages, reseating connectors, etc.) and it appears I have a bad main motor.

However, the copy of the Laserjet 4 service manual I have (dated 1996) says the part number for the motor is RH7-1151, but the motor in my Laserjet 4 printer (manufacture date August 1993) has RH7-1153 stamped on it. While I can find sources for a replacement RH7-1151, an Internet search for RH7-1153 turns up nothing.

Can anyone tell me if these two part numbers refer to the same motor, i.e. can I replace my RH7-1153 with an RH7-1151?

Thank you.

Hello ljuser,

To get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since the HP Laserjet 4 is a commercial product. You can do this at the HP Enterprise Business Community.

I hope this helps!
