My HP Photosmart 5512 will only print in color.

After installing a new HP black cartridge, my HP Photosmart 5512 printer only prints in color.  I've always used new HP cartridges and never had any problems.  There was a message on the printer saying there is a problem with the printer system.  I  turned off the printer as it suggested, unplugged it from the outlet, waited a few minutes, plugged it back into the wall,  and turned it back on.   The problem persists.

Please help.
