HP Inkjet 8710
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

- My girlfriend's laptop can print on my HP Inkhet 8710 Pro printer wirelessly in my room.
(So we know the problem is not at the printer)

- The printer is connected wirelessly to the house wi-fi.
- I just installed a new driver for the printer on my 2016 laptop. (Win-10)
- When I go to connect - Settings/Printers&Scanners...
I can see in my list of choices, the printer is there, but it says the Driver is unavailable.
When I try to Remove the printer from the list, It fails everytime...
When I try to add a Printer, it says the same thing - Driver is unavailable.

I visited the official HP website to download the driver...
Driver installed... Tells me it is connected...
But I still cannot print or even send a job since the image software tells me I have to connect.

... please help.

thankyou.
Nick

Greetings @Lounick

Thanks for the post.

I understand that you are unable to print from one of the notebooks, running on Windows 10.

Kudos to you for trying to troubleshoot the issue on your own.

Not to worry, I will be glad to help.

Are the printer and the computer on the same network?

Note: HP Printers do not work or connect to 5Ghz networks. If you are using a dual band router, please give different names to 2.4Ghz and 5 Ghz networks and connect the printer to the 2.4Ghz network.

Request you follow the procedure mentioned below to uninstall the printer correctly and install it back on your computer.

The procedure might look complicated but will resolve the issue you are facing.

Uninstall the printer from "programs and features" which can be accessed by doing a right-click on the Windows button (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)

Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it. (Right click on the Windows button to access device manager)

Go to devices and printers, select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top.

Click on print server properties.

You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there, if any.

Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.

Restart the PC.

Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box,

Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.

It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files, ignore them).

If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party application.

Restart the PC again.

Download the latest full feature driver from www.hp.com/drivers and install it on the computer.

Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.

Let me know if this helped.

Thank you for you answer...
I was able to do all of the steps as recomended until the moment I try to delete the driver of the printer in question...
It tells me the driver is in use.

When I do; Ctrl-Alt-Del and open my ''Task Manager'' to see if I can detect any usage of any kind, the only thing related to a printer is something called ''Spooler SubSystem App''... and thats running at 0%...

So unless I can figure out how to stop the driver...
This is where I can't get any further.

Thanks for the reply, please try to delete the driver again while the printer is off and disconnected. If you are still unable to delete the driver, check if you are the administrator of the computer or create a new user account on your computer with administrative privileges. Login to the new account and delete the driver.

Alternately, you can use any third party uninstall utilities like Revo, Ccleaner or so on to delete the printer software.

Let me know how it goes.
