Officejet Pro 8600n All-In-One will not feed the document to be scanned during a "Scan to E-mail" wireless transmission using Windows Vista on my laptop. The rollers on the automatic document feeder do not drop down to feed the document. With no feed one of course gets a blank scan. However, if one goes to the screen on the unit itself and enters a "Scan to E-mail", the auto document feed rollers do drop down and feed the document (unfortuneately that unit is one floor below my location).
This is not a cleaning of the rollers problem. In the first case (no feed) the rollers don't drop down. In the second, they do. What setting in the HP software (please describe) controls the dropping into the feed position of the auto document feeder rollers during a "Scan to E-mail" from the HP software installed on the computer?
We have two Officejet Pro 8600n All-In-One units. The second has exactly the opposite problem. The unit will feed when a "Scan to E-mail" is sent through out home network from a computer running Win XP Professional and using the HP provided software. But, that 8600n will not feed a "Scan to E-mail" when one tries to send it from the unit's control screen.
