No connection between printer and PC with new cable

HP Recommended
Officejet pro 8500 a909
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently had to buy a new usb cable for my printer to my pc as the old one broke. With this new cable, the printer wont connect to the pc and the printer will now not scan anything, i assume due to the lack of connection. Any help? Is it the new cable?

This is a great location to get assistance! I read your post and see that you are unable to connect your HP Officejet 8500 printer to your computer with a new USB cable. I would like to help you resolve this issue. 

  • Restart the computer, printer, and router.
  • Check the network and printer connection status.
  • Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  • Temporarily disable firewall software on the computer.
  • Uninstall and reinstall the HP driver and software.
