HP Officejet Pro 8100 N811a
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

I have a:

Product Name: HP Officejet Pro 8100 N811a

Product Model Number: CM752A

[personal information removed]

Service ID: 23317

running:

Firmware Version: TKP1FN1322BR

Whenever I try to upgrade to firmware version OJP8100_R1545A_R1547B when connected via USB or directly connected via Ethernet, the upgrade utility complains that the update is not applicable.

What am I doing wrong?

How do I fix this problem?

The only post I can find which might provide some hint is http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/LaserJet-Printing/Firmware-for-Officejet-pro-8100-N811a/td-p/4461086 but the links are dead and I do not see an option for upgrading the firmware via the EWS.

Thank you.

Hi,

From the EWS page cick teh Web Services tab, then click on Pruduct Update from the left pane.

If Web Services are disables, follow the steps to enable it first and then select Product Update.

Please let me know if that helps,

Shlomi

I followed your instructions. Product update tells me:

The printer is up to date.

No new updates are available this time.

However, I am not sure if this is accurate because is TKP1FN1322BR the most recent firmware version? According to http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-officejet-pro-8100-eprinter-series-n811/4322917/m...OJP8100_R1545A_R1547B is the most recent firmware version.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

I suggest trying a temporary USB connection, then run the utility and check for any difference.

To confirm, the firmware available online is later than the one installed on your printer indeed..

The test I ran was via USB and I still got the not applicable message. How can I firmware available online is later than the one installed on my printer? Thank you.

That's not an acceptable solution.  I have the same problem.  How about having HP fix?  I can download a newer version from their webpage, but their update site isn't updated apparently AND the download when run says Not Applicable... which is WRONG.

You should feel ashamed asking someone to work around HP's actual issue of not updating the site.

I have this same issue with an HP OfficeJet Pro X551dn. It won't update by direct USB, direct Wifi, or through standard network. It finds the machine but says "Not Applicable". I also tried direct network connection from a laptop and that didn't work. How can I update the firmware?
