OfficeJet 8600e All-In-One:
Need to print 100+ multi-page letters and envelopes using engraved letterhead as the first sheet and plain paper for the second and following sheets.
For 1 page letterhead letters, it works fine to put letterhead in one tray and the envelopes in the other tray.
But when the letters have more than one page, I need to put plain paper into the second tray, but I cannot figure out where to put the envelopes so they will handled in such a way as to also be printed automatically at the beginning or end of each letter.
I believe I remember the LaserJets at my old office also had 2 trays, but there was an attachment or a slot with a bracket that held a stack of envelopes to do just this. Is this feature not available on the 8600e?
If this printer will not do this, can anyone tell me which HP printers now can?
Thank you.

Hello, @pdalton – Hope you are well 🙂
Welcome back to the HP Forums, I'd be happy to help you with your printer related issues!
Going through your post, I’m not very sure about the issue that you are facing. Are you trying to load both the envelopes and the letterheads at the same time in the tray 2 / tray 1? Please explain in detail if possible.
The answer to your second part of the question is – no, the printer has only 2 trays and there is no separate tray for the envelopes. Also, the printer can only hold one specific paper type in one tray at any given time. If you mix 2 different paper types (letter, envelope) in the same tray, unfortunately, that will not work. The printer hardware is limited to recognize only one specific paper type / paper size in the tray.
Thanks, I look forward to hearing back from you!
Cheers 🙂
