Solved!

OJ Pro 8500a plus Printer Assistant disappeared.

HP Recommended

Officejet Pro 8500A Plus.

The Printer Assistant utility has disappeared. The utility that allows me to edit fax speedlist, scan a document, monitor ink levels etc.

The menu screen is there, but clicking on the Printer Assistant choice has no effect. I have tried uninstalling the printer and re-installing it to no avail. I've searched the setup CD and can't find anything there to install it.

I can scan a document by clicking on the separate scanner icon, but I used to have that choice as well as fax etc. by clicking on the OJ Pro icon. I can't find any way to edit the fax speeddial list other than on the small printer panel.

Any ideas?

furnone, I would make sure that the printer is fully removed from your computer first. This involves removing the printer from Programs and Features, the Device Manager, and Devices and Printers. Then restart the computer and install the full-feature software (link below).

I would also recommend deleting all the files in your temporary folder, you can access this by going to RUN and typing "%temp%" and hitting ENTER. Some files will not allow you to delete them, skip these files.

Let me know how this goes!

Thank you neonskeleton.

After some additional searching, I learned that one must install from the HP website, not the original CD.
