OfficeJet Pro 8740
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm trying to print a two-page file, front and back (I believe this is called duplex). The document needs to be printed on 67 lb coverstock and this works perfectly fine.

The issue is when I have to print a whole bunch of them at once. The printer will grab two pages at once and start printing it halfway down the page (which will then end up printing across two pages). Then it will print the opposite page, which looks better, but still not perfect.

First Page

Note how askew the print seems to be.

Second Page

Note the ink streaks on the second page and the wide margins on the left.

I've tried printing on other types of paper. 65 lb grocery bag cardstock will result in the same issue. 110 lb cardstock will just result in a jam.

The printer's paper settings list is set to 'Cardstock 176-220g (8.5x11)'

I am printing from Tray 1

Any help would be appreciated.

(I've been able to print the same document with the same paper on an OfficeJet Pro 8600)

This issue could occur if the paper pick rollers are dusty.

This printer is new (less than two months old) and it's been happening since we got it. I tried following that guide and it did not solve the problem.

Is there anything else I can try?

@gardiner_m,

Thank you for your reply, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that the issue has not resolved after following the steps mentioned in the previous interaction.

This could be a hardware issue with the unit.

Hence, please contact HP Phone Support for further assistance at the link: www.hp.com/contacthp
