Officejet 7740 is supposed to print duplex.  Every time I try this the machine freezes and won't print anything at all.  Very frustrating, as I have only had this for 2 weeks

Hey there! @Kahaly, Thanks for stopping by HP forums!

I understand you have issue printing two sides from your printer.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

What kind of paper are you using to print?

Have you enabled duplex printing on your PC?

Try the steps recommended below to enable duplex printing on your printer.

Open the file you would like to print. From the File menu select Print. The Print window appears.

NOTE: The Print window might be minimized. Click the Show Details button to see all available settings.

Click the settings drop down, it will usually appear as the name of the program (e.g. TextEdit)
Will appear as Copies & Pages within Microsoft Office applications.

Select Layout from the drop-down menu.

Set the Two-Sided option as Off.

You may save the settings as a preset by clicking Presets > Save Current Settings as Preset.

Also, update the printer firmware using this link.

Let me know if this helps!

Have a wonderful day ahead! 🙂
