Officejet 8500 Off-line Message

HP Recommended

My Officejet 8500 Pro always goes to "printer off-line" after several minutes of nonuse.  When I restart it, it goes through several minutes of set-up, includinging annalysis and "cleaning printhead".  When it finially finishes, it prints what's in the que.  I had a Photojet B210 that did the same thing.  Anyone know what the fix is?

Welcome to the HP Forums!

 

I understand your Officejet 8500 is always stating "Printer Offline". I will do my best to assist you! First, I need to find out how this printer is connected? Wireless or USB?

 

I would recommend following this entire HP document on 'Printer is offline' Message Displays on the Computer and the HP Printer Will Not Print.

 

This printer will clean the printheads, as this is normal and is required to keep the printheads from not getting clogged. For more information follow this entire HP document on Ink Usage in Inkjet Printers.

Thanks for the info.  I'll be sure and get back to you, but it won't be soon.  The printer is in my Florida office and I won't be getting back until August.
