Purchased new printer.   I'm in the process of setting it up.  It's asking for a password I have not set up yet.  What should I do?

Greetings @Flowergnome

Welcome to HP Forums and Thanks for the post.

I understand that you are trying to setup the printer for the first time and it is prompting you to enter a password. Is that right?

Is the printer connected to any wireless network?

Are you trying to print directly from your iOS device using the wireless direct method?

If you are trying to print directly from your iOS device using wireless direct, you will be prompted to enter the password for the printer.

To obtain the password for wireless direct, please print the wireless report from your printer using the front panel to obtain the password for wireless direct. Click here to know more about wireless direct.

To make it easier, I personally recommend you to install HP AIO remote app on your Mobile device and configure the printer on the app.

For mobile printing solutions, please refer to this HP Article.
