@private name, I'm happy that that worked for you .... it didn't for me unfortunately.

I also had trouble finding the "Advanced printing features" selection but I finally found it here:

Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Printer Properties > Advanced > Enable advanced printing features.

(It isn't under Printing Preferences)

@JT-Canada,

Ah!  Thank you!  Found it!

And, yes, the "Enable advanced printing features" was already checked.

I am aware the MS Word solution didn't work for you and others, which is why I said that it showed promise for me without fully committing to it as a solution.  I have to work with this more to find out if it really does work or not for me.  Like I said, why did I have to change that setting?  And how will that affect me in the long run since it was previously unchecked?  How does it affect all my exisiting documents?  I recently got my new Officejet 6978 (a month or two ago) after using Photosmart 7520 for years with no problems, and that's how I came across this "quirk", and apparently it affects more than just one model line... Officejet, Envy, what else?  Hopefully HP will figure it out soon.

Thank you for your help.

Dvotex's (HP Support Agent) solutions do not work for me.  I have just bought an Officejet Pro 6230 to replace an Officejet Pro 8100.

The 6230 cuts off embeded pictures/clip art in word documents.   The same documents used to print perfectly on the 8100.

i wouldn't have bought this printer if I had been aware of this problem, and I am very surprised that HP haven't solved what seems to be a long running problem.  This problem requires broadcasting outside of this forum  to prevent other people buying these products.

Having to save word documents as pdfs just to print them is not an acceptable soluition either.

Dear thfutbolfletch, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!   I cannot thank you enough!
