Persuading a Deskjet 940c to work with Windows 7

Our system does not automatically have the drivers for the 940C or the 990CSE Deskjets for Windows 7-64 bit. Where can I get the correct drivers?

The Deskjet 940c driver is delivered through Windows Update as shown here.  It is listed under HP, not Hewlett-Packard.  See here for more information.

As I stated, our image does not have the drivers for either model. I am attempting to get them from the MS Update catalogue, but I have not been having much luck getting them from the basket to our netowork.

Finally used an XP box to download the 940C Windows 7 driver. Unfortunately the Windows Update has no data on the 990CSE Deskjet. Any idea?

I have set my printer to print only black, but I keep an empty colour cartridge in place.  That has worked just fine, but I have just replaced the black cartidge and the printer is now demanding a full colour cartridge.  What has changed?
