HP Envy 7640
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently purchased the Envy 7640.  When printing a picture it isn't clear and crisp as my other printer and also prints right at the top of the picture even though the bordless prints are not turned on.  Does the same thing with a piece of paper you might have 1/4" from the top if you are lucky.

I've always had HP printers but this one I'm not impressed with.  I use the regular photo paper when printing and I'm thinking it's because it doesn't have a photo cartridge.  Please advise.

As I understand you are having print quality issues on your HP Envy 7640 printer. Don't worry as I have a few steps to help you get through this concern,

Let's start by performing a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Let’s first try and make a “photocopy” to determine whether the issue is with the printer or not. Place a document on the scanner glass and choose “Copy” option. If the printer is making a good copy, then the printer hardware is fine. You could also go through the steps suggested in the support document for - HP Printers - Fixing Copy Quality Issues

Next thing, please follow the steps suggested in the support guide for HP Printers - Print Quality Issues
