I've followed HP procedure to reset printer which did not resolve the problem. I have also attempted an on screen reset procedure in the "System Configuration Menu" which also did not help. I have been told by the retail supplier it will be less expensive to purchase a new printer than to have the print head cleaned or replaced. Please advise.

You could try the cleaning as described in step 2 below

I"ve read several articles on how to replace the capacitors in the HP C8180 printer, and I"m wondering how long the capacitors last. The printer cost almost $ 400.00 in 2008 and was purchased ot scan negatives and slides. I now wish I had purchased it. All I want to do is get the scanner working so I can move myself into the digital age. Either I fix the printer so I can scan or replace it with an Epson Scanner. Sorry technology needs to work.

What version of Windows is on your computer?

Have a C8180 with Error Oxc18a0406. The google web sites that came up first all had the "remove power, remove ink cartg.m, wait 2 min. then plug power cord back up, turn on power, install ink cartg. Did not clear the code. Holding all 5 buttons down and pressing ok to get to the next window and then pressing ok to clear all the items that came up worked. I'm printing again. Just wouder if putting in expiried ink caused it to give the error code? Replaced a ink cartg. that the printer had indicated in the screen "expired". Opened a new pack and installed, and got the same display error code. The new ink could be "expired" also since we have not printed in several months. All is well now.
