The printer at work is only 2 months old and we are going through black ink really quick.  When printing the black  ink appears really dark and shiney. I have replaced the cartridge after 2 weeks.  We don't print alot.  Is there something wrong with the printer? Or can i change the settings for the ink? Thanks

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I appreciate you taking the time to share your concern and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.

I reviewed your post and I understand that the black ink is getting depleted faster.

I’d love to help!

I recommend you to print in the draft mode which will give you more prints from each cartridge. Here is how it is done.

  1. In the program you are trying to print from, click File, and then click Print.

The Print window opens.

  1. Open the Properties dialog box.

Depending on the software program, the button might be PropertiesOptionsPrinter SetupPrinter, or Preferences.

  1. Depending on your print job, you might consider modifying the following settings:
    • Paper Type: If you are printing on photo paper, select the type of photo paper you are attempting to print on.
    • Print Quality: If you are dissatisfied with the quality of your printouts, increase the print quality. To print more quickly, decrease the print quality. These options typically include BestNormal, and Draft modes.
    • Paper Size: If you are printing on a different size of paper than you normally print on, select the correct paper size.
    • Black and White: If you want to print in black and white only, select the grayscale option.
  2. After selecting the print settings, click OK to apply the settings, and then click Print.

Let me know how it goes and you have a good day ahead.
