HP Photosmart 6520
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a 6520 , all-in-one. Has been working fine.  Problem started where I can print photos with no problem. When I try to print from tray 1, the paper will feed through but it will not print on the paper.  It will print out the "Print Quality Diagnostic"  when i run it.

Hello, @Larry40 – Hope you are well 🙂

Welcome to the HP Forum! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips.

I understand that you are having issues while using the HP printer. Let’s start by performing a power drain on the printer. Here are the steps:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Now, try reinstalling the printer drivers and check. Follow the steps below mentioned:

  • Unplug the USB cable from the printer and computer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Photosmart printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Now click on http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL43742/mp-108722-3/PS6520_1315-1.exe to download and install the printer drivers.
  • Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.
  • Now, check the paper settings and try printing a photo.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Good luck 🙂
