My printer will only print the first page or two of a document before stopping in the middle. It does this when connected wirelessly and with a USB. I have had this issue multiple times in the past and was told it is an issue with some setting on my computer that is interrupting the connection between the printer and the computer. I do not know what setting this is. The computer and printer are both up to date.

Hi @Gphi230,

Good Day.  Thank you for posting your query in the HP community.  I read the post regarding issues with the printer printing only the first page of every file. I will be delighted to assist you here. 🙂

Superb description and commendable diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂

For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:

  • Do you get any error messages while printing?
  • Did you uninstall and reinstall the printer software?

For now please try these steps:

Please ensure that it copies correctly. Make 2 copies in black directly from the printer without any communication from the computer. If it copies fine, then perform these steps:

Please try to uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers by following these steps:

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Then download the latest full feature driver from http://hp.care/2tfOyDa and install it on the computer after selecting the correct operating system.

Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.

This should fix it for you.

If it does not please follow all the prescribed steps from this link: http://hp.care/2wvL4Ot to fix print jobs stuck in the queue.

Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient, Going by your technical expertise and competence I am sure you will be able to perform these steps without breaking a sweat. 🙂

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes. To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as Accepted Solution as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care and have a blessed week ahead. 🙂

Cheers!

This was only a temporary fix to my problem. Now my computer is saying the printer is offline. I have had this problem in the past before I assigned a static IP address to the printer but this time the IP address hasn't changed so I'm not sure why the printer is listed as offline when it is still connected to the network.
