Printer will not copy or scan

HP Recommended
Envy 5530 e
Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite

The printer will not print copies or scan. it has done so before. It still prints wirelessly from Mac.

Message on printer is ' now copying' or 'preparing to copy/ preparing to scan'

Seems to start the process but stops after a second or two.

The message will stay on for 12 hours or more with no further action.

Any advice out there please

Hey @Harrygate,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I hope you enjoy your stay here.

I understand that your Envy 5530 e-All-In-One Printer is not copying or scanning. I can help you with that.

To start, make sure the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet and not a surge protector. Once that is done while you have the error message on the screen, remove the power cable from the back of the printer for one minute and then try to copy again.

If the printer is still not able to able to copy after doing the above, the printer needs to be replaced. You can contact HP support by clicking on this link and filling out the form at the bottom to discuss options based on your warranty.

Please let me know if this resolves your issues or if you have any other questions. Otherwise, have a great day!
