HP DJ 3630 Series
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Having an issue where the printer WILL NOT PRINT TEXT. It will however print if I change the file to a .img or .png. I've run the doctor, says everything is fine. I've done a clean boot several times. It doesn't work on any computer in the house, or even the tablet.

Printer: HP DJ 3630 Series

OS: WIndows 10 64 bit

I've uninstalled and re-installed the software multiple times. It works for 10 mins and then reverts back to not printing text. However it will print the text out for the info sheet for the printer

Alright, I downloaded the software. I tried to install it. But for some reason the software can't find my printer. It seems like the printer 'times out' after awhile. The power button is on, yet the led screen is blank.

Update: I checked on all the computers in the house. The printer shows as "Offline". I unplugged and replugged it in, tried to rerun the firmware update. And again, the update could not find my computer, even though I have the software opened right next to it.

@RockBourne,

Thank you for your reply, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that the issue still persists after following the steps provided in the previous interaction.

This issue could occur if the drivers are not configured properly.

And here's the step by step guide for you in the links to uninstall and reinstall the drivers:

Step 1: Uninstall the Drivers:

Please follow the steps provided to uninstall the printer software in the link: Uninstalling the Printer Software (Windows)

Also, please follow the steps provided below to completely remove the printer software from printer properties.

Steps to remove printer driver files from Print Server Properties:

  1. Open the Print Server Properties dialog window by doing one of the following:
    • Click the Start menu and in the search field type 'printui /s /t2' (without the quotes), and then press Enter or click it in the search list.
    • Press WINDOWS-R on the keyboard to bring up the Run window, type in 'printui /s /t2' (without the quotes), and then press Enter or click OK.
    • From the Start menu or the Start screen:
    • Open Devices and Printers.
    • Select any printer and then click "Print server properties" at the top of the window.
    • Click on the Drivers tab.
  2. Select the printer driver you wish to uninstall.
  3. Click the Remove button.
  4. Select "Remove driver and driver package" and click OK.

Step 2: Download and install the Drivers from the link: Full Feature Software and Drivers

Let me know if this works.

Alright. Did as instructed. Tried it on both computers. I keep getting an error.

hpygid17.inf (x64)
This package contains the following driver(s) that are in use:
HP DJ 3630 series; This driver is used on:
HP DJ 3630 series (Network)

The following driver(s) can not be deleted:

Driver HP DJ 3630 series (x64) is in use. It is used on:
HP DJ 3630 series (Network)

Update: I deleted the program through the windows remove program. But the error message I get when trying to use the print ui thing is:

Failed to remove driver HP DJ 3630 series. The specified printer driver is currently in use.
Failed to remove package hpygid17.inf.

Even though the printer is un-plugged and not on the network anymore.

Hi @RockBourne,

I went through your response comprehensively. Stupendous troubleshooting and spectacular effort to try and resolve the issue. Hats off you on that score. 🙂 As @Rainbow23 is out of office for the day, I am jumping in to assist you.

Please try these steps:

Please install the built-in printer drivers and check if this does the trick for you.

If it does not then try to install the 990c drivers and that should definitely do the trick for you.

  • Please go to control panel and click on devices and printers.
  • Click Add a printer and then click Add a local printer.
  • Click the Use an existing port check box.
  • In the Use an existing port drop-down list, select LPT1: (Printer Port) and then click Next.
  • Under Manufacturer on the Install the printer driver dialog box, select HP.
  • Under Printers, select the appropriate alternate print driver for the HP product and then click Next.
  • In the Printer name text box, type the HP product name and then click Next. The print driver starts to install.
  • Then select the driver 990c from printer preferences.

Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great.

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care now and have a superb week ahead. 🙂
