I've developed the problem with my OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus, where I get the Paper detected doesn't match...message.  Only copying is affected; printing and scanning are fine.

I've tried the various suggestions re unplugging etc., checking for firmware updates, etc. that I've read in the forum; it looks like I need to do reset.

Can you please provide directions for doing so?  I will not republish.

Thanks

@paperwrangler

Thank you for joining HP Forums.

I'll be glad to help you 🙂

As I understand the printer doesn't work due to the error message - Paper mismatch,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Have you looked for related HP Forum posts to resolve your concern?

If you haven't, Here's a related HP Forums post that seems to have helped others: Click here for the steps.

If the issue persists, here's an HP Article for Mac OS: Click here

And here for Windows related troubleshooting: Click here

If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,

Followed by clicking on "Accept as solution" from the drop-down menu on the upper right corner,

Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum.  Have a great day!

As mentioned, I have the problem ONLY for the copy function, not for printing, which is fine.  The suggestions on other threads that might pertain to copy I tried before posting, as mentioned.  (Multiple times, and with prolonged power disconnect once).

The thing I cannot do without instructions is the reset.  I am requesting reset instructions (NOT updating firmware, which I already double checked).  It says user must agree not to republish those, so I agreed to that in my original post, and further agree here.

So, looking specifically for reset instructions.

Thank you.

@paperwrangler

Thank you for replying the clarification, that helps! 😉

I appreciate your time and efforts,

Please check your Private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile,

Next, to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Please reply back on the public post as this Private message box is not monitored.

(The reason we are utilizing the private message is because the instructions are critical,

And we don't want it in the wrong hands, as the printer will be set back to factory defaults).

Keep me posted,

If the information I've provided was helpful,

Give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

That'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.
