Has anyone found a solution for this? I'm having the same issue with this printer. Scans, copies, prints test pages won't print normally though.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read about your HP ENVY 5540 printer and getting you are getting out of paper error message.

Don't worry though as I have a few steps to determine the issue and find a solution as well,

  • Check the paper, and then reload it.
  • Print a Printer Status Report.
  • Adjust the paper settings in the print driver.
  • Clean the paper feed and pick rollers.
  • Reset the printer.

Click here and refer the document to perform the above steps.

Let me know if that works.

Cheers.

@hard-worker

This is a great location to get assistance! I read your post and see that you are getting paper tray empty error message on HP Envy 5540 printer. I would like to help you resolve this issue.

Check the condition of the paper.

Clean the paper feed and pick rollers.

Reset the printer.

  • Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
  • Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  • Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

Click here and refer the document to perform above steps.

 If you require further assistance,
