Officejet 4620
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi Team.

My bro bought an Officejet 4620 from overseas which was working there perfectly.

But when it reached here in India it is not working. The error message is 'Carriage jam. xxxxx'
(During transit by Air it may have been thrown or jammed by the Air Cargo dept.)

I would like to do a Full reset and see if it helps.

I have read thru previous forum messages that the Reset instructions will be emailed privately.

If so please send the same to my email.

Thank you for your time

Regards

Anil

Hi @Anil73,

I understand you are having an issue with your HP OfficeJet printer and you would like to know how to reset your printer. Don't worry as I have a few steps to help you get through this concern,

Let's start off by performing a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

Remove all the ink cartridges and then try to perform a hard reset on the printer.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Now insert the ink cartridges and then try to print a test page and check if it works.

Generic Troubleshooting Steps: (use product specific docs for detailed steps on specific product)

  1. Turn the product off and on again via the power button (to remove false messages)
  2. Remove power cord from unit (for safety purposes)
  3. Clear any paper jam – first from rear access, then from front
  4. Reconnect the power cord and power unit on
  5. Remove the print cartridges or printheads
  6. Check for obstructions under and around the carriage
  7. Make sure that the carriage moves freely
  8. Reinstall the print cartridges or printheads
  9. Disconnect the power cord from any power strip or surge suppressor, and plug it directly into the wall outlet.
  10. Perform Hard Reset:
    • Remove the Power Cord from behind the printer when the printer is powered on.
    • Connect the power cord back to the printer.
    • Try to power on the printer from ‘Power’ button.

For more details, please follow the steps suggested in the support document for - A "Carriage Jam"

If the issue persists, as suggested earlier you can perform an Advanced reset on the printer,  I am sending you a private message with the steps to reset the printer. Please check the mailbox icon at the top-right corner of this screen.

Let me know if that helps. Thank you!

Cheers
