My M225dw has worked for 2 years now.  It reciently quit working scanning to network folder. I have done everything including your suggestion and set up new shares.  The printer is hard wired to the network and unless a recient update from microsoft killed it I would not know what has charged.  Tried through the web interface to the printer, through the HP folder wizard, tried this suggestion to insure SMB was set-up.  By the way it was not but never was but making these changes and rebooting the PC did not help.  If I use HP Assitand print and scan doctor it works and I can save to that directory if that helps.  Next thing I will connect through USB which I have never had to do and really do not want to but I if I cant get this fixed I will need to replace the printer.  I use that funtion as much as printing.

Yes that was the issue.  However the first time I tried to this it failed.  I had to run it in compatability mode.
I had spend 10 hrs or more trying to fix this.  Hopefully this will help others.  If I remember right the original notice I received on the LED screen on the printer and did the update that way not through downloading it on the pc and running it that way.

Thanks Senan... I hope this helps others as I doubt it is an isolated case.

Hi @djmillernet,

A warm welcome to HP Community! I'd like to help.

Is the printer connected to your home, work or a public network?

Have you tried adjusting permissions on the network folder?

Let me know!

Yes I have and it has worked for probobly two years.  When I noticed it quit was just after I was notified of an update to the printer firmware a few weeks ago and applied the update.  All seemed fine until a week or so later when I went to use that function.  I am an old IT professional and carry not only Serveral MSCerts but Comptia certs.  I taught comptia network+  and plus, A+ regularly at Maplenet in Indiana.  I was hoping I would hear it happened as either the results of the firmware update to the actual printer or as a result of a MS update. I have also disabled the MS firewall and also Eset but to no avail.  Set up new shares but it seems nothing I do allows the printer to connect.

It is a home network.

Thanks! You are right, it is possible that a recent Microsoft update or printer firmware update could be causing the issue.Could you try updating the printer firmware again using the firmware update utility available here
