With these steps you just simply skip the OS X version check.

HP-Color-LaserJet-CM2320-MFP-series v1.5.0.dmg

Would you be so kind to let me know where I could find this file.

Hi there,
it is called (and hidden) in file called HP Color LaserJet CM1312 MFP Series Mac OS X v10.5, v10.6 Full Solution.

YOu can download it here - it is hidden in choice Mac OS not in exact versions like "Mac OS 10.9: http://h20566.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=3562007&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=219

Maybe you found that in search results but didn't notice it - the results in HP support center seems that showing nothing, but they are listing some files at the bottom (good joke). The HP website is not very good designed + if you have newer Mac  OS (10.6+), you will have to hack the driver.

So I tried deleting the exclamation sign and saving the file and I get the following message:  "The file “distribution.dist” is locked. It gives me the option to duplicate the file but that does not solve the problem. I would greatly appreciate if anyone could follow up on this as I have wasted countless hours dealing with this printer.

Did you copied the DMG content to the hardrive? You cannot edit files inside DMG.

Unfortunatelly I edit the tool and for OS X 10.9 the scan function is not working. It seems the problem is when I have printer connected as network printer. Installed this tools on my Paralles Windows 10 and everything seems working ...
