Officejet Pro 8620
Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite

I'm trying to set up scan to email using my email address. I'm using the HP Set up Wizard available via the HP Utility. I'm using smtp.gmail.com on port 465 ssl, and for credentials I'm using my Gmail email and associated password. When I set up all the information and click on Save and Test, I keep getting the error message that the credentials are incorrect. Via this post: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Inkjet-Printing/scan-to-email-setup-difficulties-om-officejet-pro-8610..., I see that I may need to turn off two-step authentication. Is there any way to set up scan to email without turning off two-step authentication?

Hi,

I afraid the printer cannot connect to Gmail with two-step verification enabled.

For the printer to connect to Gmail servers, Two-Step Verification must be disabled and Allow Less Secure Apps must be enabled, else the printer will fail to connect.

You may either change these stettings or may create another gmail account for your printer with these settings confiigured to allow the printer to connect.

Regards,

Shlomi
