Scanjet 5590
macOS 10.12 Sierra

Hi all

Recentlly uopdated from a three year old MacBook Pro to a new MacBook Pro but now the scanner is not visible to any app. that takes in scans.

Both machines are running the latest OS X – 10.12.4.

On the old machine I could scan in directly using either Acrobat Pro or Image Capture. On the new machine I ran the HP Easy Start app, which seemed to recognise that I had an HP ScanJet 5590 and installed HP Easy Scan. However, in the test part of the installation it could not communicate with the scanner.

I clicked on About This Mac and from there ran a full System Report, which  correctly showed the ScanJet 5590 connected via a USB port.

Therefore I think it must be a driver problem.

Anyone got any ideas, please?

Thanks
