HP Officejet 4650
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am trying to scan 10 pages using the Automatic Document Feeder on my HP 4650.   After 1 or 2 pages are scanned, the scan suddenly stops and 'canceling scan' is displayed on the front panel.   At that point, the scanner cycles the remaining pages through the ADF without scanning them.   This problem occurs whether I am initiating the scan from my computer or from the panel on the printer.  I have run Scan Doctor but there are no issues reported.

This problem started two days ago.  I have been able to scan using the ADF in the past.  It started after I manually cancelled a scan using the panel.

Hello Kennuth

One of the many reasons this is happening MIGHT be due to motor. Please try switching of printer for some time and then use after an hour or so. That apart could you please let us the room temperature where the printer is placed?

1. One other thing to check will be if there are any objects blocking while paper is moving.

2. Please check whether the folder that you are scanning to has write permission

3. Also check if the your hard disk has got enough space to hold the scanned image

4. Are you able to do a scan to PC and scan from front panel with flatbed scanner?

Thank you for the reply.   I actually thought that this may be a hardware issue so I took the unit back to Costco and got a replacement.    I have cleared all of my HP software (even for my old printer) and have reinstalled the HP OfficeJet and the software and drivers.  The problem persists, and I am still unable to scan more than 2 pages using the ADF.

There is plenty of space on the computer, the temperature on the unit does not increase and there is no blockage in the ADF.

At this point, I am assuming that there is some software problem, although the same problem occurs whether I scan using the panel or scan from the computer software.

Hello Kennuth

Thank you for detailed description.

1. Are you facing the same issue with the flatbed scanner as well?

2. Are you able to perform a copy from Document feeder?

3. Are you able to see the images of the 1 or 2 images that are scanned?

4. Could you please let me know how hot/cold the room is ?

Regards

I am able to scan using the flatbed.

I have also been able to copy multiple sheets using the ADF.

When I'm attempting to scan, none of the images are collected.  Even if a couple of pages manage to get through the scanner, they are not saved.

The room is 20 degrees celcius
