We have a separte phone fax line connected to our HP8710 all in one. We can receive faxes, but when we trying to send a fax, it makes a noice and then a voice says "please provide password". What does this mean?

Hi! @mush_746, Thanks for stopping by HP forums!
I understand you have issues sending a fax from your printer.
Don't worry I'll try to help you out.
Did you make any changes to your printer?
Please provide the operating you are running on your PC to assist you better.
The number you entered when sending the fax is not in the proper format or the receiving fax machine is
having problems. To check this, try calling the fax number from a telephone and listen for fax tones. If
you cannot hear fax tones, the receiving fax machine might not be turned on or connected, or a voice
mail service could be interfering with the recipient's phone line. You can also ask the recipient to check
the receiving fax machine for any problems.
It looks like someone has assigned an administrator password for outgoing faxes.
You have to delete the fax from your devices and printer. Right click on the fax delete the fax from you PC.
And the add fax using fax setup wizard on your PC. Make sure you don't assign any password while setting the fax.
Refer the printer user guide for more information.
Let me know if this works!
Have a pleasant day ahead! 🙂
