Solution Center and Fatal Error Installation for HP Officejet J6480

I am trying to use the HP Solution Center Software and have downloaded the latest software from the HP website for my printer.  It is able to download all the products except for HP Imaging Device Functions.  I keep getting the error message:

Fatal Error / MSI.Destinations

When I try to open the Solution Center program, I get the following error:

Solution Center Error

Please let me know if you have come across this situation and have found a solution.

Thank you.

Solution Center and Fatal Error Installation for HP Officejet J6480

Hello,

I see that you're having an issue with the printer software. I would suggest doing a L3 uninstall.

Follow these instructions:

Steps:

Try using the scrubber built into the CD or Download.

From original printer installation CD:

1. Insert CD into drive, and then cancel the installer

2. Open My Computer, and then right click on the CD drive and chose open

3. Open folder Util

4. Open folder CCC

5. Run the uninstall_ L4.bat for non-HP computers.  For HP computers run the Uninstall_L3.bat

6. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer

7. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools

8. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player

http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html

9. Use this tool to clean the registry.  Note: This utility is not HP sponsored or approved.  HP and I are not responsible for damages or loss of data caused by the utility.  This step is optional.   You can skip it if you want.

http://download.cnet.com/Advanced-SystemCare/3000-2086_4-10407614.html?part=dl-6271865&subj=dl&tag=b...

10. Download the full feature software

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-77039-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...=

11. Run the download to reinstall the printer

From a download:

1. Run disk cleanup on your computer

2. Download the full feature software

3. Once the download is done extracting, cancel the download.

4.. Press the Windows key + R on the keyboard to bring up the run menu.

5. Type %temp% in the run field and click OK.

6. Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)

7. Open folder Util

8. Open folder CCC

9. Run the uninstall_ L4.bat for non-HP computers.  For HP computers run the Uninstall_L3.bat

10. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer

11. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools

12. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player

http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html

13. Use this tool to clean the system and registry.  Note: This utility is not HP sponsored or approved.  HP and I are not responsible for damages or loss of data caused by the utility.  This step is optional.   You can skip it if you want.

14.Download the full feature software

15. Run the download to reinstall the printer

Now Go to Start > Search Box (or “RUN”) > regedit

TAKE OUT ONLY THESE KEYS/FOLDERS!!!

 HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Printers>DevModes2 > * Officejet J6480*

(delete printer name from window list; may need to check DevMode and Settings folders, too)

 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > software> Hewlett Packard > Digital Imaging folder

(delete ENTIRE folder – IF computer NOT an HP, delete the ENTIRE HEWLETT PACKARD folder)

 HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG> System > CurrentControlSet > Control > Print > Printers > * Officejet J6480* - (delete any HP printer folders and the folders of any printer not in use)

After this please restart the desktop, and then install the Download the full feature software.

Once you start the install you will need to install the software one by one.

Start with the first options which is the driver, once that's finished install the rest one by one.

Solution Center and Fatal Error Installation for HP Officejet J6480

Thank you lions99.  I will try this soon and report back on its sucess/failure.  In the mean time, I have been able to use the scanning function of my J6480 through Windows Fax and Scan, Windows Photo Gallery 2012, and Picasa 3 (might be the better of the three).

Thanks also for the prompt reply.

@francessm, OK, please let ME know outcome. If you can scan or print from a 3rd party software, that means the HP software is the issue.
