Solution Center version 14 on a windows 7 professional 64bit pc continues to give an error when scan

Product: HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909n series

Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

Solution Center version 14

 

The Product is attached to the network.  A cisco router with 4 ethernet ports.

Port 1: New desktop pc with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

Port 2: Old desktop pc with Windows XP

            HP Solution Center version14 is installed on the old desktop and the scanning feature works

Port 3: HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909n series

Port 4: empty

 

When attempting to scan using the new desktop(Windows 7 64-bit) the following error is displayed

Error? The HP imaging device was not found.  ...  extended error information 8,[(1,0,-2147024770)]

 

The new desktop pc can print using the HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909n printer.  It is the scanning feature that does not work.

The updater says everything is current on the new desktop.

 

What needs to be done to get the scanner to be recognized and to work properly? 

Since the scanning function is working on the old desktop it would seem that the HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909n hardware is working.
