Solved!

Sorry, scanner could not be initialized. (Scanner not found.)

I use Mac OS X version 10.9.2 and HP All in one Officejet J6480.  The All in one is able to print, but not scan.  Here is the error message.    None of your previous responses has worked for me.  Either you are reference to a different version of Mac operating system or different HP printer.  What would you recomend for my Mac and printer?  Thanks.

Hi JeanneDave,

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums! Smiley Happy I understand since upgrading to the Mavericks 10.9 OS you are getting a 'Sorry scanner could not be initialized' error with your HP Officejet J6480. After some research, there are no full feature software and drivers abailable for the OJ J6480, with that being said the printer would of been installed using the Apple updates. To get a better understanding take a look below:

OS X v10.9 Mavericks: Installing and Using the Printer on a Mac

Now with that being said, that does not mean you will not be able to scan it simply means there are a few different options then what you may be use to, see here to learn how to scan with or without HP software: How to Scan: OS X v10.9

I hope this helps!

Thanks again,

At least the Image Capture works for me.  Thanks a lot!
