The printer is well configured and works fine, but when I need to send a fax I always say busy line, once worked well. I'm not coming to the first post I do many and at different times, the answer is always the same.

Hello, @Giuli46 – Hope you are well 🙂

Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums! I’d like to be of your assistance!

Going through your post, I understand that you are able to receive faxes, but unable to send them. Is this issue happening with only one number or is it happening with all the numbers you try to fax? Let me know.

I would like you run a fax test while awaiting your reply. Follow the steps below:

  1. From the home screen on the printer control panel, touch Fax, and then touch Setup.

  2. Touch Tools.

  3. Touch Run Fax Test.

The printer displays the status of the test and then prints a report.

  4. Wait while the printer prints the Fax Test Report.

  5. Review the report.

    • If the report indicates the printer passed the test and you still have problems faxing, check the fax settings listed in the report to make sure the settings are correct. A blank or incorrect fax setting can cause problems with faxing.

    • If the report indicates the printer failed the test, review the report for more information about fixing the problem.

If the test shows any correction that is required, please proceed ahead with the same. If the issue persists, go to http://hp.care/2p5o4He and try the steps listed under “FAQ - "I cannot send or receive faxes. What should I do?"

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Good luck 🙂

Hello, @Giuli46

Try changing the ECM mode using the printer control panel.

To change the ECM setting from the control panel, use the following steps.

  1. From the home screen on the printer control panel, touch Fax.

  2. Touch Setup.

  3. Touch Preferences.

  4. Swipe up on the display, and then touch Error Correction Mode to toggle on or off.

Turn off the ECM and try sending / receiving fax. If the issue still persists, please check with your telephone provider to run a fax line test on your line.

Hope that it helps. Let me know!

Cheers 🙂
