I have a problem connecting the LaserJet M1217nfw to my wireless network (Airport Extreme). I tried to set up wireless printing on the printer's browser page via USB and also Ethernet. It seemed to be set up correctly connected to my wireless network.

But when I disconnected the Ethernet cable from the printer to activate the wirless connection of the printer the blue "wifi" button kept flashing and it wouldn't connect to the network. Is there anything I'm missing here? It feels like I had tried every single way to connect the printer at least three times but still no success. Please help!

I'm running macOS sierra 10.12.2.

@surmvoise

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand you need assistance in troubleshooting the connection of the LaserJet M1217nfw to wireless system,

I'd love to help, however, to ensure I'm on the same page as that of yours:

Have you reinstalled the printer drivers from HP's website?

When was the last time it worked without these issues?

did you make any software or hardware changes to the printer or the computer? is yes, did you try reverting those changes to see if it works?

In the meantime, I recommend you reset the wifi connection and start from scratch:

Let me know how that pans out,

Thanks for the reply!

I've never installed any drivers from the HP website. I thought the one automatically installed by macOS is all that is needed. Isn't that right?
I also would like to know how I can upgrade the printer's firmware. I couldn't find any setting for this.

Last time it worked was in an other household with an other router. And the OS was probably 10.10 or 10.11
So reverting to those circumstances is quite impossible...

I already reset the printer's settings at least 5 times without any success.
